What should I expect from my first counselling appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. There is no pressure to share everything straight away. The session is also a chance for you to ask questions, learn more about how I work, and decide whether counselling with me feels like the right fit for you.

No. You do not need a diagnosis or a specific problem to benefit from counselling. Many people seek support simply because they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or struggling with life's challenges.

Are my counselling sessions confidential?

Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential, which means what you share will remain private. The only exceptions are where there is a legal or ethical duty to share information, such as if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else. Confidentiality will be discussed in more detail during your first session, so you know exactly what to expect.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

There is no set number of counselling sessions, as everyone's circumstances and needs are different. Some people find that a few sessions are enough to help them work through a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term support. We can discuss your needs together and review your progress as counselling continues.

How much do you charge?

I charge £60 per session. 25% discount on first session. £30 for students. I also offer discounts if you are facing financial hardship.. Call me to discuss how I can accommodate your needs.

What's the first session like?

The first session is simply a conversation where we begin to explore what has brought you to counselling. You can talk about as much or as little as feels comfortable. Many people feel nervous beforehand, which is completely normal. Together we will look at what has been going on for you and what you would like to gain from counselling.
